When I posted the kara chutney recipe I got many requests for this poha idli recipe too. Recently , in one of the FB food groups i stumbled upon this " Instant Rice Idli / Instant Poha Idli ". It immediately caught my attention as it was healthy , looked soft n fluffy , simple recipe with handy. Instant poha idli with idli rava or upma rava(Semolina, sooji) / aval idli without urad dal is a quick fix, instant recipe for my idli cravings.

Instructions to make Instant Poha Idli:
  1. Soak poha in one cup of sour curd for around 20 minutes. Once done mash this if you can't do this with spoon you can mash this using mixer. - - Now add rice rava, another cup of curd and water to mix. Let it soak for 15 minutes. Now rice rava observes all the water and looks thick.
  2. Now add enough water to make idli batter consistency. - - Once you are ready make idlies add pinch of baking soda and mix until batter becomes frothy.
  3. Now heat idli pan spread little oil on the mould and steam the idlies for around 8 minutes. - - Once done don't take it out immediately. Let it rest for 3 minutes and then take it out.
  4. Serve hot with any chutneys or sambars as you like.
