Chana dal vada are one of my favorite vada recipe that I remember since childhood days. vada recipes are very common in many south indian households and are included in most of the meal as a snack. generally, the vada recipes are made with lentil or dal which are soaked and coarsely grounded to form a thick batter. the same procedure holds good for the chana dal vada recipe or. This is very simple and basic recipe, I have made it quite a few times when I had guests at home. But never posted and had long time due to post this. I wanted to garnish with kara boondi, so it too so long for me to both make this south Indian curd vada and have the kara boondi in stock.

Steps to make The South Indian Dal Vada:
  1. Firstly soak all the lentils together for 4 hours.
  2. Now drain the water properly.
  3. Dry the lentils with soft cotton cloth.
  4. Now take 1 cup of lentils and keep aside.
  5. Take a mixer jar and put rest of the lentils.add salt and grind it coarsely.
  6. Take a pan. Put this coarsely lentils mixture, add 1 cup whole lentils, add lil salt, ginger paste, green chilli paste and curry leaves.
  7. Mix all these together very nicely.
  8. Now heat a oil in a pan for deep frying.
  9. Meanwhile make the small balls of this lentils mixture and press with your finger tips and make shape like Pattice. Make all the Pattice and keep aside.
  10. Once the oil is heat up. Deep fry the lentils balls.
  11. Keep frying till it turns to brown and crispy.
  12. Flame should be medium to high. Don't change while frying.
  13. Now take it out in a absorbent paper.
  14. Let's make chutney. Take a mixer jar and add coriander, mint leaves, peanuts, salt, Green chillies and lemon juice. Add little bit of water and grind it well. The green spicy chutney is ready.
  15. Now serve Dal vada with green chutney.
