  2. Prepare 3 Alu patta
  3. Make ready Chana dal 1 bowl
  4. Make ready 1 inch Ginger

  7. Take 4-5 dark green chilli
  8. Make ready 1 tsp Turmeric
  9. Take 1 tbsp Tamarind

  11. Take 1 tbsp rice flour optional
  12. Prepare 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Steps to make Alu Wadi:
  1. Soak Chana daal for 2-3 hrs and grind it with garlic, ginger, coriander, green chilli and turmeric. Add little water to make smooth mixture.
  2. Soak tamrind in 2 tablespoon of water and squeez it. And use that pulp only.
  3. Now mix tamrind pulp with chana dal batter. Add salt and mix it. Add baking soda if you want
  4. Place alu leaf upside down and spread this mixture on it. Place another leaf on top and repeat it for next leaf too
  5. Now roll leaf bunch and steam it for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Cut in into small pieces and shallow fry it with some sesame seeds.
  7. Serve it.

It is also a savoured dish in Gujrat Alu wadi or Paatra is a popular snack from Maharashtrian and Gujarati cuisine. It is known as Alu wadi in Marathi and Patra in Gujarati. Alu wadi is prepared with colocasia leaves and gram flour. Colocasia leaves are stuffed with spicy, tangy, sweetish gram flour paste.
